Foxboro event to benefit American Cancer
Society
(Foxboro, Massachusetts USA) A day long family event including concerts and
kiddie activities to raise money for the American Cancer Society is set to
kick off at noon on Saturday, August 2nd in Foxboro,
Massachusetts.
Musical performances from 1pm to 9pm include Matt Cusson, Makio, Rebel Riders,
Baylock, Fred Shafer, Louie Bello (featuring Malik Williams & Lisa Bello)
Mr. J. Medeiros (of the Procussions), Tama Girard (featuring Slam G andRhode
Island's legendary Spogga).
The one day event also features activities for kids like Face Painting, Henna
Designs, Pony Rides, a Petting Zoo, a Silent Auction, Regal Reptiles, Moon
Walks, a dunk tank and more.
Christina Elfar a 24 year old make-up artist, hairdresser and aspiring model
who grew up in Wrentham and today lives in Pawtucket was moved to action
by a cancer diagnosis in her own family. In order to help, she came up with
an idea to cut hair on one day and donate the proceeds to the American Cancer
Society. When word got out about what she was planning people began to offer
their time, talent, services, products, refreshments and more.
Her tiny "haircuts for cancer" project suddenly grew into a 'Festival Carnival
and Concert Event" which now includes active participation by the American
Cancer Society and staff who sanctioned this as part of their Relay for Life
campaign and will be on hand with materials and information.
"I want people to know I'm sincere about this" Elfar said in an interview.
"We need to get the word out so we raise as much money as we possibly can.
We even have a philanthropist (who wishes to remain unknown) matching all
monies raised dollar for dollar up to $25,000," she said. "Over 1,500 people
per day will die of cancer this year, we need to win this fight against cancer,
and coming to this event is one way to help!"
"The Patriots are always welcome to attend" she added. The event will be
held in the parking lot of Foxfield Plaza, 365 Central Street, Foxboro not
too far from Gillette Stadium.
