Hope City Homeless to get Jobs, a Place to Stay & Movie Documentary
(Providence, Rhode Island) A local contractor, the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe,
McAuley House, LexFilm Productions, Amos House and Jo Jo Gator of the WALE990am
Mid Day Madness show announced their plans to help the Hope City Homeless
today with jobs, a place to stay and a documentary movie.
Reinke Construction President Jim Reinke announced that he wants to hire
Hope City Homeless who have construction experience for an upcoming job,
while Seaconke Wampanoag Chief Wilfred "Eagle Heart" Green has reaffirmed
his offer to let them stay on reservation land and David Angell of LexFilm
productions announced a documentary movie featuring the Hope City Homeless.
Reinke had heard a live studio interview by Mid Day Madness host JoJo Gator
with the Hope City Homeless and Reverend Mary Margaret Earle on WALE990am
and contacted Gator who referred him to Reverend Mary Margaret who then put
him in contact with Bill Scott of Amos House. Bill Scott advised that he
had 51 graduates of the Amos House Carpentry Training Program since 2007,
that none of his graduates had returned to prison and most of his graduates
had found jobs. Bill also said that he a new class graduating soon and a
new one starting October 5th.
"This is another opportunity to help the community and live up to the Amos
House Model of success," added Cendy Gonzalez, Amos House Communications
Coordinator. That model is "helping people help themselves."
Upon hearing this, Reinke then widened his offer to include homeless people
anywhere who had construction experience.
"People aren't disposable and everyone deserves a second chance" declare
Reinke.
Chief Wilfred "Eagle Heart" Green has been aware of the Hope City homeless
plight since early this year as was Film Producer David Angell who is following
their story and will be featuring them in a LexFilm productions
documentary.
The News Conference was held at WALE990am Studios on North Main Street in
Providence, the studio that made the broadcast that set things in motion.
