Over thirty (30) local kids from diverse cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, some in colorful fish costumes or carrying signs will be joined by Big Nazo Puppets, a marching band and neighborhood residents in a colorful procession starting at the Buddhist Temple on Hanover Street to Mashapaug Pond behind Job Lot on Reservoir Avenue in an effort to warn their neighbors about the health hazards of Mashapaug Pond this Saturday, June 7th starting at 8:30am.

The event is organized by Providence artist Holly Ewald, and supported by the RI Department of Health, RI Department of Environmental Management and the RI State Council on the Arts.  New warning signs are to be posted in conjunction with this event.  Among the speakers at the pond will be Chief Wilfred Greene of the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe who will relate some of his remembrances of the pond’s history as a neighborhood family gathering spot in the 1940's.

The RAIN DATE is Sunday, June 8th, 2008
